Suse in Front of Frenchmans Cap, South West Tasmania, Jan 2003.
Getting close to Frenchmans Cap is a bit of an epic at the best of times. More often than not the weather isn't real flash, usually stormy & wet. Sometimes white and veeery cold. This is the place where I've heard the term 'lazy wind' for the first time: wind that can't be bothered going around you ... it just goes straight through you, clothing & all.
On this photo though it was so hot that by late afternoon the area started to be enveloped by black smoke from bushfires burning all over the place.
